He's found an excellent spot, The Ryde Hotel. It's located on Ryde Island and is quite swanky and has a sorted past. Just our kind of place. I'm sure flyers will be soon online so make plans on attending and help celebrate with the award winners and the coming ride season. It will be a blast! Thanks, Dave Schiller

New User Posts: 4 ![]() | Thanks Dave, I went to the Ryde Hotel this past Sunday, the 8th, confirmed the the reservations, for the District Banquet and decided to partake in the Sunday Brunch. I tried to sample everything on the menu!! We are doing the Sunday Champagne Buffet Lunchen. Couldn't do it.. Way too much to choose from. And then try to play 9 holes of golf, at the hotels course. next time the golf first, then the brunch.. Oh by the way, this was the second time in my life that I played a game of golf!! New User Posts: 3 ![]() | Hello sfmc-1 I just joined our site. Hoping to access some of the old files and results from my amateur racing days in the mid to late seventies. funny that the first person's name I write to has a reference to the slopes of Visitation Valley associated with it. So I presume SFMC-1 stands for San Francisco Motorcycle Club -1? sure looks like it! How would some one living in Largo Florida know this? Because I grew up on the other side of "the slopes of visitation Valley" known as McLaren Park. it will be interesting in getting to know all of you. I come back to the city at least yearly! keep it pegged!

![]() Posts: 28 ![]() Location: The Slope of Visitacion Valley | Pleasure to make your aquaintence. When did you live in the most forgotten part of the City? You are quite the detective. I am a member of the San Francisco M/C and the number 1 is there just to rub the racing members the wrong way. The license plate on my '79 Harley is SFMC 1 also. Which again drives the member nuts, especially the ones that ride the other brands. But there's no way you lived "in" McLaren Park. So were you in the Portola or the Excelsior District?

Being the Road Rider Division of District 36, we have no records of any racing. You may want to try the competition side at www.ama-d36.org for that information.

If you had a connection with the SFMC, we may have something in our scrap books. What years were you racing? I'll see if I can find something about you. Please accept this as an invitation to visit next time you're in town. Ask for Papa and I'll buy you a drink.

![]() Posts: 28 ![]() Location: The Slope of Visitacion Valley | Well, it turned out to be a pretty good time at the Awards Banquet. The SFMC showed up in full force to see me take home another Belt Buckle. Rex and Gene were smiling ear to ear so I know they were happy to win also. And it looks like Phyllis is going on a winning streak of her own as she won her 2nd buckle. We even had a special guest in attendance. AMA Director for the Northwest Region, Perry King was there and talked for a while about how great our group was. Thanks to Bill Wollner for picking the restaurant and to Kay and Cindy for handing out the awards and the cute poem.

New User Posts: 3 ![]() | My most sincere apologies Pappa for not replying sooner! Actually I did grow up in Mclaren Park! You see, if you Google map my old address 1439 Wayland St. SF, 94134 you will see that house is right on the corner of Wayland and Cambridge streets. We always had a hard time describing our location as either Excelsior or Portola as you stated, sometimes even Silver Terrace was suggested but that is not right either. It seems that our almost square block of homes was somehow wrested away from land set aside for the park. I spent my childhood playing and learing to ride in the park. Daily brushes with mounted Officer Ferrack were taken for granted by both. I kept him duly employed and he provide me with motivation to ride as quickly and safley as possible. I was most recently in the city last July having the unwanted chore of cleaning out my father's cherished garage upon his demise. He often cheered me on as the hordes of Police chased us off "The hill". Too bad I missed you. We could have met for a toast down on San Bruno Ave. My old stomping grounds. I raced from 1972 till 1979. Starting with the last ever motorcycle race at Champion Speedway (a moto X) which I placed third in my first race ever, to my last race, as a flatracker in Oakdale 1979. In between there were scrambles Enduros and even a desert race never really wanting to go pro. Till next time ...Keep it pegged!! Herode
